Industries/Online stores

For stores that are already taking orders.

Almost nobody calls us because the store is ugly. They call for one of three reasons. The ads started running and the traffic does not convert. There is a date coming, a launch or a wholesale meeting or a season. Or they looked at a competitor and felt cheap.

All three are the same job. A product page and a collection page that do the selling, and somebody to make the fifty small decisions that have been sitting there for a year.

What you get

What is in the build, and what is not.

In the build

  • Product and collection pages that do the selling, designed from wireframes on a modern Shopify theme.
  • Your products loaded and checked, with the right photo on the right size, up to sixty of them.
  • A real order placed and refunded on the live store before launch, and a cutover on a morning we pick together.

And underneath that

  • Custom design on a modern Shopify theme, drawn from wireframes. Built as sections in the theme, so it is yours to edit in Shopify's own editor after we leave.
  • Up to eight templates. Home, collection, product, cart, search, about, contact, policies.
  • The states nobody remembers. Sold out, one photo, twelve photos, sale price, no reviews, empty cart.
  • A product data pass up to 60 products. Variants, weights, tax categories, and the right photo on the right variant.
  • Your product copy edited. Structure, length, consistency, and the missing blocks named.
  • Migration of products, customers and collections from Shopify, Squarespace or Wix.
  • A redirect map up to 300 URLs, built from a crawl and Search Console, so your search traffic lands where it used to.
  • Shipping zones and rates set against what you charge today, and we show you where to change them.
  • Shopify Tax turned on, product tax categories set.
  • An app audit, up to fifteen apps, with a keep, replace or drop call on each, and up to two replacements.
  • Order and shipping emails, and your sending domain authenticated so they arrive.
  • Analytics with eight tracked events, live before we switch anything over.
  • Metadata, product structured data, sitemap, robots.
  • A speed target written into the contract, not promised on a call.
  • An accessibility pass on every template we build.
  • Recorded training, and a one page document of every account and what it costs.
  • Thirty days of warranty after launch, defined by what it excludes.

Not in the build

None of this is a no. Each one is a separate line, and we price it when you ask.

  • Product photography and retouching.
  • Writing product descriptions from scratch.
  • A logo, or a full visual identity. If the brand needs building first, we can do that too, as its own engagement, scoped and priced before the store starts.
  • Subscriptions, loyalty programmes, wholesale price lists, gift with purchase.
  • Selling in more than one currency or region.
  • A configurator, a quiz, or a bundle builder.
  • The checkout steps themselves. On every plan we set your logo, colours and fonts on the checkout. The fields and steps only change on Shopify Plus, so nobody below Plus can sell you that.
  • Registering you for sales tax anywhere, or filing a return.
  • Your Shopify plan and any paid apps. Those stay on your card, in your name.
  • Running your ads, your email, or your SMS.
  • New pages, templates or products after design sign off.

How this one works

What is different about a store.

01

Your products go in right the first time

Your store should never launch with a wrong price or the wrong photo on a size. So before anything gets designed we agree one spreadsheet: name, description, price, SKU, weight, options, and which photo goes with which variant. We send the template, we load it, we check it, and any mistake in the import is ours to fix. Weights matter because shipping rates are calculated from them, so we ask for real ones. A kitchen scale, one packed unit per size, and one afternoon covers most catalogs, and if your supplier's spec sheet already lists them, that works too.

02

A real order goes through before launch

You see the money land before a customer does. We place an order on the live store and refund it: card, confirmation email, shipping rate, tax line, and the refund back. A store that has never taken an order is untested, not finished.

03

Your store is open the whole time we work

You keep selling while we build. The switch happens on a morning we pick together, with the redirects loaded first and a way back if anything looks wrong, so nothing about the cutover is a surprise.

Questions

Asked on every call.

Do you load the products for us?+

Yes. You fill in one spreadsheet on our template, or send us whatever export you already have and we will map it. We load it, we check it, and we fix anything the import gets wrong. The two things we ask you to supply are the product descriptions and the shipping weights, because you know your products and your boxes better than we ever will. For the weights, a kitchen scale and one packed unit per size is usually an afternoon. On a migration the products come across automatically, and we fix by hand the ones the export mangles, which is usually the variants.

Do you shoot the photos?+

Not ourselves. We work with a photographer and we can price a shoot for you. Most stores need three to five images per product plus a few lifestyle shots for the homepage. It is worth budgeting properly, because photography is usually the real reason a competitor's store feels more expensive than yours.

Do you set up shipping and tax?+

We set both up. Shipping gets configured against what you actually charge today. Tax gets turned on and the product categories set so Shopify calculates it correctly. What we do not do is file your returns. Once you are selling into enough states you need an accountant or a service for that, and you should hear it from us now rather than from a letter.

Who owns the store if we stop working together?+

You do. Your account, your domain, your payments, your data. We are a collaborator on it, which is access you turn off from your own admin in about four clicks. Nothing we build stops working when we stop working, and we would give you the same answer on the day we part ways.

The demo

A real one to click through.

Built by us, running live, and every button in it goes somewhere. Filter the aluminium collection, put two things in the bag, and take the checkout to the order number at the end. These are not pictures of sites.

The demo shows the storefront. Its checkout is a mock we built to show the flow, and no card is charged. On your store the checkout is Shopify's, the one your customers already trust. The Shopify setup, the product data pass and the migration happen inside your own store, which is why they are not in a demo.

Yours will not look like this one. It is here to show what finished looks like, not to be a template.
